Resolutions are in the air and shaping our thinking for the weeks ahead.  Top of the list is deleting guilt from the goals (feeling bad about weight gain to falling off the exercise wagon is not a good motivator) and focusing on fresh starts, new friends, and your health and fitness. Try adding these top three to your own January resolutions...

  1. Stop trying to prove anything to others, and instead explore what makes you feel good. If you’re in a rut or just want to try something new, explore three options this coming week (a swim, a group exercise class, a new gym routine…), and decide which makes the cut and goes into your schedule.

  2. Get into healthy habits. We know this is tough, and research shows it takes more than a New Year resolution list to secure a routine. In fact, it takes 21 days to form healthy habits. Meeting a friend for a swim or workout helps, but there are other things you can do. Packing your gym kit in the car or taking it into work so you can stop for a workout on the way home helps. Reserving an exercise class ahead and rewarding yourself (favourite supper or movie perhaps?) afterwards can be a boost, booking a 1-2-1 with a Halo fitness instructor can be just the ticket or something simple like asking a friend or family member to monitor your progress can help make you accountable. At 21 days in, we promise a difference in how you feel, sleep, relax, and eat will feel so good you won’t want to stop.

  3. At the end of the 21 days, set out some goals. It might be jogging your first 5k or fundraising for your favourite charity, losing the excess Christmas weight gain or linking up with a friend more regularly for a weekly swim or gym session. You tell us what success would look like by Spring and ask our team to help you map out a workout routine to get you there.

Good luck.
